A street-corner alehouse that is well worth the short walk from the busy town centre as there is plenty to interest ale lovers within. The upper bar has eight handpumps serving ales from microbreweries and a log fire in winter. Beers available are listed on continually rolling screens around the bar. Beers resting in the cellar are noted by the pumpclips hanging in the bar. The lower bar hosts regular Tuesday Jam Nights and some weekend music nights. Up to four ciders and perries are available and a selection of KeyKeg beers. An outdoor covered seating area is open most of the year. Monthly Sunday night quizzes are held and an annual beer festival. Food is served Wednesdays to Sundays with pizzas being particularly popular.
