In the heart of the Old Town, this traditional pub has a large front bar and is famous for its frequent and well-attended music events, including the Fat Tuesday tour each year in February. There is loud live music at weekends and “Completely Scuppered” Shanty Men perform every Tuesday. There is a cosy rear bar, frequented by locals, with an open fire and bar billiards. Stairs lead to the attractive terraced rear gardens. There is also an upstairs function room hosting a range of events from blues to slot car racing. There are eight handpumps serving seven cask real ales and a traditional cider. An annual “Stout Out” dark beer festival is held and the pub is a participant in the Hastings Tap Takeover held each October. Up to eight changing real ciders including those served from boxes behind the bar.
