Situated opposite the village green, this family-run free house dates from 1742 and occupies a prominent position in the centre of Ringmer. Food is served lunchtimes and evenings in the week and all day Saturday, with a full menu and traditional roasts available on Sunday until 18.00. The guest ales (2 during the week, 3 at weekends) are usually from local Sussex breweries and real cider is available in summer from South Downs Cider. Two large garden areas adjoin the building with a separate small terrace garden. Bar games are popular and include toad-in-the-hole, darts and cribbage.
